It was a classic non-denial denial:

Reporter: "There have been rampant theories throughout the show in the last
couple of years and this season that the story's being told because the
mother is dead."

Miloti: "That's insane."

Reporter: "Right?"

Miloti: "No, I know. There's, like, some crazy conspiracy theories, which
actually just makes me really love the fans more, 'cause I'm like, 'Wow,
you guys are like, you're getting to the bottom of like something.' I don't
know. There's just such passion there. That is so crazy."

Reporter: "Right?"

Miloti: "Yeah. That's like ... so I've only seen one episode of Lost. It
was the finale. Right? Wasn't that, like?"

Reporter: "They were [unintelligible]. But they didn't have a plan like
Craig and Carter."

Miloti: "No. That's really intense."

The logical follow-up would be "Did Craig and Carter tell you what the
final scene is?" Because whatever they shot wasn't the end. The end was
shot in 2006. We don't know if Miloti knows the final scene (Neil Patrick
Harris is the only cast member known to know, and that was after he
badgered them).

It's also worth noting that interview was shot "the day before the final
day filming the nine-season comedy", which would've put it on February 27,
before the airdate of Vesuvius.

So it's one of two things:

1. A fakeout by Thomas and Bays that we'll figure out in three weeks,
during which they'll be laughing uproariously in bathtubs full of money
(along with the CBS sales folks who are getting $500K/spot for the finale).

2. The actual ending, and now Thomas and Bays (and CBS) are realizing that
all hell will break loose, and somewhere there's a room full of people from
all parties involved trying to figure out what to do now. You could even
picture a CBS exec being told what the ending is, saying "I dunno...", and
Thomas and Bays selling them on the fact that the show's dealt with
heartbreak out of the blue in the past, and CBS buys it.

I'm pretty sure it's #1. But God how I want it to be #2.

Aside: I remember a couple seasons ago in Mad Men (I'm in a bit of a rush
so I can't look it up) when Don meets a man named "Connie" in an episode,
and in the comment thread of Alan Sepinwall's recap, one of the commenters
mentioned that it was probably Conrad Hilton. We found out in the next
episode that was exactly who it was (and Alan noted that commenters had it
exactly right).
