Three reasons: 1. See my other thread on ownership versus rental 2. My wife does not like complex when it comes to watching television. The first night she came to live with me, a friend was in from out of town I hadn't seen in years (and haven't seen since). I showed her how the remotes worked, gave her a kiss and left. When I returned, the TV in the front room was blaring and she was nowhere to be found. I walked into my bedroom to find her watching my tiny Sharp 12-inch TV. When I asked what happened, she broke down in tears. She couldn't figure out how to make anything work. So while you're right she could just fire up CBS.com, she likes to watch it on the big TV, and the effort v cost calculation to make it happen made it this much easier. 3. We would've bought the DVD afterwards, so this saves us a step.
