I would hope that Stewart would want to continue his skewering of the media. On TDS. I can't see him doing fluff interviews for double the time length of what he does now.
Craig, in my opinion, will not take and will not fit/last in Dave's slot. As much as I like Craig's deconstruction of the late night genre, and his improv, and his interview skills, and his "make an ass of himself (ie flash dance )" he would not click with the general 1130 pm public. Fallon is killing it in the 1130 slot. Funny, likeable, talented on many fronts. My barometer for this statement is my wife, who generally has not liked the 1130 pm, and onwards genre. She cannot stand Craig. Me? I love Craig, meh Kimmel, got very tired of Leno , loved Dave on LN, meh Dave after 30 years ; but Fallon is very refreshing and entertaining. My bet: Craig passes on 1130. Fallon rules 1130, with Kimmel very close, and whoever gets Dave's slot will have a hard time getting traction. CBS would have to have more patience than NBC did with Conan at 1130.
