The way our minds work is that we take facts or pieces of information we
learn and form them into narratives. And from observing the discussion
here, what we have is a clash of narratives rather than a clash of facts.

The reason I bring this up is that we see the Cosby case as a continuation
of similar narratives whether the facts fit or not. Onr recent story which
shows some insight to me is the Jerry Sandusky story from Penn State. In
most ways the stories are different - Sandusky happened within State
College, PA while Cosby was all over the place, the trigger for the
Sandusky story going public was a state prosecutor's report saying that
victims' allegations, while also were more than a decade old, merited a
court's attention which hasn't happened to Cosby, and the public idol taken
down was Joe Paterno, not the accused. But the thing about the Sandusky
story that resonates is that once the story was out and proven many sports
journalists in western PA who covered Penn State over the years said that
it was common knowledge about Sandusky but nobody could publish anything
because it was all gossip until the prosecutor's report.

I don't know if charges will be brought against Cosby. Because Sandusky
assaulted children there was no statute of limitations. But if the victims'
stories are substantiated, there will be no end of entertainment
journalists (or maybe "journalists") who will claim that they knew for
years about Cosby.
