I don't know what role CBS played, but I think Colbert genuinely fell in
love with Batiste when he guested on CR (it was a remarkable episode).
Almost every story about Batiste notes that everyone loves him, and that he
exudes charm and love through music. I'm sure that's true, but while he
does seem like a really nice guy, the charm does not translate through the
tv.
