Several years ago, the "Early Today" sign off went something like this:

"Thank you for watching Early Today - just your first stop of the day, today on NBC."

I found the repetition of the word "day" (by itself or as part of the word "today") contrived and embarrassing. I felt sorry for Lynn Berry - because she was apparently required to recite that sign off at the end of each episode. I often changed the channel so that I wouldn't have to watch her recite it.

But recently, I caught some eps of "Early Today" and noticed that the sign off was much briefer and it seemed less contrived.

Does anyone know when that sign off changed? FWIW I think that it was after Lynn Berry left.
