I didn’t get the impression that anyone was lipsyncing, although I’ve read some critiques online that suggested the principals were marking (a common rehearsal practice - singing at a lower volume to conserve their voices for performance). It’s likely they were singing, but at a volume that blended more with the background vocals.
Interestingly, instead of forcing the LIVE! studio audience to listen to the recorded performance, the cast sang through the score live while the broadcast aired. (The broadcast version was simulcast on the monitors in studio.) Here’s what I don’t get - understudies aside, they had the original Roger IN THE BUILDING. Sure, Adam Pascal is a little old to pass as a 20-something, but he undoubtedly knows the score and could have been put in pretty quickly. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
