I’ve been following Gina Carano’s career since she has a mild Reno connection. She lived here for a short time and her father is a casino co-owner and gaming executive. About a month ago a story showed in the Google feed on my mobile web browser about “The Mandalorian” cast supporting Carano and wanting her to continue as Marshal Care Dunne. The story didn’t say why Carano was being attacked. Then this last week, there was another story that explained the #fireginacarano movement. She retweeted one tweet that said Democrats want people to wear masks over their eyes as well so they don’t see what is going on. She was a critic of Black Lives Matter rioting but was silent about right wing protests. She liked tweets that said America does not have systemic racism but has a violent, leftist extremism problem and that said you are more likely to be assaulted for being a Trump supporter than you are to be assaulted for race. She liked a tweet with about five white civilian males holding assault rifles. She was also accused of being transphobic, but I didn’t see the basis for that allegation. Carano’s Twitter feed lately has been all cotton candy and bubble gum. She gave an interview on the Federalist Radio Hour podcast where she said she still doesn’t know where she stands politically. That’s shallow introspection. She complains she went through a smear campaign and wasn’t asked for her perspective. But she was giving her perspective on Twitter. “So did I become a punching bag? I became a punching bag.” She also said she’s never been political. She said she started speaking out because there was a large group of people being silenced and being forced to play woke. “I decided to say something and it got me in trouble.” One story said Jon Favreau saved her job on “The Mandalorian.” She’s also been in both Deadpool movies. Disney is talking about being against violence and extremism, I think that could cost Carano her Mandalorian gig
