Thanks for all the help!! By sheer coincidence that repair guru showed up today. I had indeed slightly bent the arm so it could not move west. East was fine, but west was a no go. The 4D book said to set the limits about 50 from the farthest satellite. For me that was PAS-9. The repair guy read that in the book and said that a counter of 50 is way too large. So that's why I pushed it too far. Oh, well. The bottom line is that all is well and I'm up and running again after a month of just the pizza pan.
Thanks to all who offered good advice. It made me look intelligent when I told the guy how I broke my BUD! :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "VeniVidiVideo" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 12, 2005 4:49 PM Subject: Re: [TVRO] More advice needed on actuator arm > There could be a hardware problem as well--arms can get stuck when > overextended and simply not have the torque to overcome the weight of > the dish at its limit (you may be able to solve this by simply > lifting the dish by hand while you're trying to move it with the > 4D)--but, no matter what, it sounds like you need to adjust the > software limits in the 4D.
