Frank,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to post some info about Access America.

For more than two decades there was satellite radio for TVRO owners. Often
stations competing against each other. Many stations came and many left. With
the transition to digital the last great station, The W0KIE Satellite Radio
Network, lost it's analog transponder and the owner decided to retire the name.

In the good ole' analog days, we had a by-product called audio sub-carriers.
These sub carriers where often free since the broadcasters cared about their
own picture and audio only. There was enough room left for radio stations to
tag along. The digital format is not free anymore. Broadcasters have to
purchase bandwidth on a satellite and every "bit" has to be paid for; video
and/or audio.

This gave me the vision to start Access America. I am trying to bring the
hobbyist and amateur broadcasters together at a very reasonable and affordable
rate. Shows like "This Week in Amateur Radio", "Dishnuts News", "LTUAE" and
other shows, need to continue and have their place. I was also able to add new
shows like "The FTA Satellite Show" and there will be others to follow. Access
America will be a way for individuals and groups to broadcast their message and
content to the entire continent. Consider it "Free Speech Radio" for the small
broadcaster and podcaster. Access America is open to any show as long it is
within the FCC profanity guidelines. The programming is available to private
listeners, full power radio stations, LPFM and Part 15 stations. If someone
wants to rebroadcast the program, it's FREE. All we ask is a notice to find out
where it airs.

There are IRC chat rooms associated with most of the shows. Some use their own,
some the one provided by Access America. There are also Internet streams
available for people that don't have a satellite dish or digital capabilities.
Feel free to contact me off list if you have any questions.

Satellite coordinates, Radio schedule, Internet stream info, chat room info,
etc. can be found at http://access-america.net.

Thank you again for this opportunity and enjoy the program.

Make sure that any chat room info is posted, for the shows being
formed in the time spot being bought. Those that are not into MPEG-2
this minute might benefit from online audio and a chat room that runs
along with the programming, like the old daze....assuming it can be
  done.

I hope the term 'geek' is included in the explanation of the content
one of the shows being formed..
