I'm sure it kept his name and webpage in demand. Only Mike Kohl could tell us
if it furthered his sales. The info he provides is priceless and as you say, it
helped a lot of dish heads.

It would be nice if Mike Kohl could do his own show once a week. That would
mean, he would not depend on other show hosts to be invited. He sure knows his
stuff and has written great reviews on different satellite equipment. However,
doing a show is a big commitment and takes a lot of effort and time for
preparation. Not everybody has that time. It's a work of love!

Unlike the analog days, satellite is not free anymore. It's bandwidth now and
that costs money. $300 is a tough nut to swallow for some programmers or a
group of programmers. I am surprised that satellite dealers haven't jumped on
the bandwagon to support the cause. I think it's always easier to sell to
someone who is already acquainted with the hobby.

I talked to Richard Buckner from the FTA Satellite Show earlier this evening,
He assured me that the show helped his sales and brought more members to his
Yahoo mailing list. His show airs Saturday afternoons at 3 PM ET on Access
America. Not really a prime-time spot, but it works for him.

Mike Kohl's segment, at times, were taped apart from the show he was
on, by listening dishheads, primarily because of his hardcore
TVRO-info nature. Gary might have been reading newspapers, or Dean
might have been playing music, But, when it came to Mike Kohl, people
considered it his show segment a sort of show in a show.

Mike has put a lot of labor into helping dishheads.

I don't really think Mike is going to make any sales doing this, it is
more an act of waving the flag so that people know he's still in
there, plugging away, helping people. I don't know how things are
going sales wise. Maybe that is changing?

I know T & D have decided to take a few weeks off in an attempt to
reorganize their radio station into something that pays its bills
while still being a non-profit. But then again, the 300 bucks that has
to be coughed up. I assume if the dealers don't get sales then the
audience better crack open the checkbook.
