All,

What the problem is likely to be is when Windows 2000 is upgraded to
Windows 2003, the default directory permissions will be reset. Furthermore,
Microsoft has tightened their default security and this tends to take
precedence of how permissions were set prior to the upgrade.

Administrators experiencing such an issue will need to grant the proper
permissions to the required directories and files before turning their
systems over to users. As an example, the 'users' group may loose its
previous access rights and be set to Windows 2003 defaults. Additionally,
Internet services and FTP have been integrated into Windows 2003's user
accounts and file access permissions.

Microsoft has various articles in their Knowledgebase that may clear some
things up.

Hmmm, this seems to be a problem becoming quite prevelant. See the thread
with subject '[U2] Universe logins on a Windows 2003 server started by
Bobby
Ramirez.

He and I and you seem to have all run into the same type phenomena.

Subject: [U2] UniVerse telnet session terminating...

             Hello All:

We have a UniVerse 9.6.2.1 installation on W2K that has
suddenly
developed a logon problem for all users except the administrator.

We're seeing the following error condition:

             Enter user name: test

             Enter password: ****

             Informix UniVerse telnet session terminating.

All standard users have home directories for valid
user-accounts
assigned through UV Admin and belong to groups with the "Log on Locally"
policy in force.

Only the administrator users are able to get past the password
prompt (where they receive the "Account name or path(xxx):" question).

The LIST.READU EVERY command shows no locks present.

             Any suggestions?

             Thank you.

             Don Nagai
