Flexibility, yes, but they do not always perform as well across levels of call statements. When redimensioning is desired, they are really handy. When that is not a requirement, static arrays may be the better choice. I think Mark B. and Jim T. proved that back when release 7 was born.
Performance wasn't an issue mentioned, but you are correct. The point was that with the Prime-style dim-array you are not limited to the number of elements within the array whereas with Pick-style dim-array you are limited by the VARTAB size. -------
