As soon as they mention the word "proof" (quite important in software and relational database design, I believe :-) that places them *firmly* in the realms of maths.

And, to quote Einstein, "As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality." :-)

Indeed, as I've often said, it's pretty easy to prove that relational databases, in order to qualify for the moniker "relational", *must* be inefficient energy hogs.
