It may be necessary to install the Java SDK/JDK for Eclipse and thus BDT to work. Of course, Oracle is now the keeper of Java downloads. A Google search for the Java SDK is of interest.
When installing a fresh copy of Eclipse, Eclipse does not install the Java SDK/JDK automatically. Perhaps because I had already installed Eclipse a while ago on my PC, I had no issues installing BDT. Right now, I do not know how Rocket handles this matter of Java and Eclipse with BDT. I presume that prerequisites is covered in the BDT manual from Rocket. While this Java thing can be something of a pesky hurdle, some brute force work-arounds are to back-door install OpenOffice and/or NetBeans on the PC. Is it worth all this hassle? YES... life without Eclipse is life as a troglodyte. --Bill -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bill Haskett Sent: Thursday, November 11, 2010 4:12 PM To: U2 Users List Subject: Re: [U2] New Client Specifics Bill: Do I have to load up some "crap" onto my client before I can run BDT? Does it use UniObjects? Would there be a problem if the timeout period for the UniRPC daemon was reduced to 5 minutes (this seemed to cause no end of grief to those using the previous incarnation of the development tool, which we could never get working properly anyway)? I have the most recent version of the UD "clients" software (v7.2A) and didn't see any documentation regarding either installation or use of the product. Am I missing something or is it just for UV?
