Let's put this into context... Rain fade varies from place to place, region to region, you can find specifics about your area via ITU rain fall charts.
South Florida is listed as Rain Fall 'n' region, part of the worst group on the charts 24Ghz, is affected by size of the rain drops and how 'hard' it rains.. (how fast it rains... rain speed ?) e.g looking at attenuation on 24ghz due to rain, at 2km, it is 0.4db for 1.25mm/hr rain fall, however for the same distance it jumps to 8db for 25mm/hr rainfall. FYI Rain Zone N can have rainfall between 5mm/hr to 180mm/hr !) Airfiber24, will drop link somewhere about -80/-80... So if you short link has a -40 or -38 signal, then you have 40db to play with before it drops.. Lots of factors that go into this, and above is a summary listing of what they are... This is the reason why, one simply must keep the location in mind, before comparing someone else's experience... (unless of-course that someone else is in the same rain fall region). As we say ... YMMV ! :) Regards Faisal Imtiaz Snappy Internet & Telecom 7266 SW 48 Street Miami, FL 33155 Tel: 305 663 5518 x 232 Help-desk: (305)663-5518 Option 2 or Email: [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Clay Stewart" <[email protected]> To: "Ubiquiti Users Group" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 22, 2014 10:26:58 PM Subject: Re: [Ubnt_users] Airfiber 24 or 5 Have AF24 links from .5 to 1 mile and have seen zero rain fades so far.
