Is there anyway to back up the files I want to keep from the main drive before reinstalling? I can boot it with the Live CD but only with the Try without changing anything to your computer option.

This is release 9.04 This problem came up once before when I had to manually shut it down but I booted from the original disk and restarted and that fixed it.
