I could not find dmidecode, nor was it available in the repositories (main, universe and multiverse) for edgy-ppc. When I finish running my simulation, I will unplug the cable, let the battery exhaust itself and the computer crash (instead of going to sleep, as is the expected behaviour and the behaviour under ubuntu dapper) Thanks for looking at this bug!
