Half tempted to.. I was kinda joking about the Fork.. I've invested too much time into Ubuntu to drop it stone dead.
But Ubuntu did fork from Debian with similar reasoning, except Debian's inflexibility was with denying the use of non-free software. It would be better if Ubuntu/Canonical could stick to their core values. They have created a project that has turned out to be something far greater than themselves. Now they are trampling on others who helped to advocate and make this operating system great, because they are so focused on get it out to a larger audience. It's like an awesome band ditching their loyal die hard fan-base, and writing crappy soulless pop music targeted to the seething masses of teenage pop-loving brain-dead douche-bags. Total. Sellout. Ubuntu needs to be more popular, but Canonical must have a little faith in the community to help get the message out there - not compromise on what makes Ubuntu awesome. This is a mistake that can still be undone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648180 Title: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
