After reading up I found out that the mainline kernels should be installed by hand.
I am now using 3.4.0-030400-generic from the Ubuntu Kernel Team and the error message no longer shows up! On a side note: the G15 animation is now just as jerky as it was on the other USB ports. So whatever they did to fix the issue, also slowed down the port for older USB devices, pitty. FYI, plugging the keyboard in the USB 3 port now gives: May 27 02:15:42 cyberpc kernel: [ 211.956127] usb 2-1.6: USB disconnect, device number 4 May 27 02:15:42 cyberpc kernel: [ 211.956130] usb 2-1.6.1: USB disconnect, device number 6 May 27 02:15:42 cyberpc kernel: [ 212.078028] usb 2-1.6.4: USB disconnect, device number 7 May 27 02:15:45 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.241482] usb 5-2: new full-speed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd May 27 02:15:45 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.291079] usb 5-2: ep 0x81 - rounding interval to 1024 microframes, ep desc says 2040 microframes May 27 02:15:45 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.293014] hub 5-2:1.0: USB hub found May 27 02:15:45 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.296995] hub 5-2:1.0: 4 ports detected May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.598779] usb 5-2.1: new low-speed USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.651870] usb 5-2.1: ep 0x81 - rounding interval to 64 microframes, ep desc says 80 microframes May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.651873] usb 5-2.1: ep 0x82 - rounding interval to 64 microframes, ep desc says 80 microframes May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.665911] input: Logitech Logitech Gaming Keyboard as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.4/0000:05:00.0/usb5/5-2/5-2.1/5-2.1:1.0/input/input12 May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.665997] generic-usb 0003:046D:C221.0006: input,hidraw2: USB HID v1.10 Keyboard [Logitech Logitech Gaming Keyboard] on usb-0000:05:00.0-2.1/input0 May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.695807] input: Logitech Logitech Gaming Keyboard as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.4/0000:05:00.0/usb5/5-2/5-2.1/5-2.1:1.1/input/input13 May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.695904] generic-usb 0003:046D:C221.0007: input,hiddev0,hidraw3: USB HID v1.10 Device [Logitech Logitech Gaming Keyboard] on usb-0000:05:00.0-2.1/input1 May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.770741] usb 5-2.4: new full-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.851675] input: G15 Keyboard G15 Keyboard as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.4/0000:05:00.0/usb5/5-2/5-2.4/5-2.4:1.0/input/input14 May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc kernel: [ 215.851747] generic-usb 0003:046D:C222.0008: input,hiddev0,hidraw4: USB HID v1.11 Keypad [G15 Keyboard G15 Keyboard] on usb-0000:05:00.0-2.4/input0 May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc mtp-probe: checking bus 5, device 3: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.4/0000:05:00.0/usb5/5-2/5-2.1" May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc mtp-probe: bus: 5, device: 3 was not an MTP device May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc mtp-probe: checking bus 5, device 4: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.4/0000:05:00.0/usb5/5-2/5-2.4" May 27 02:15:46 cyberpc mtp-probe: bus: 5, device: 4 was not an MTP device May 27 02:16:39 cyberpc kernel: [ 268.509492] input: gnome15-mouse as /devices/virtual/input/input15 May 27 02:16:40 cyberpc kernel: [ 269.511434] input: gnome15-keyboard as /devices/virtual/input/input16 May 27 02:16:41 cyberpc kernel: [ 270.512018] input: gnome15-joystick as /devices/virtual/input/input17 May 27 02:16:42 cyberpc kernel: [ 271.520616] input: gnome15-digital-joystick as /devices/virtual/input/input18 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883646 Title: "ERROR no room on ep ring" fills up syslog and hard disk in minutes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/883646/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
