On my laptop ASUS X55U with USB 3.0 port with connected Verbatim Store 'n' Go SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive 500GB (model inside ST500LM0 12 HN-M500MB) during copy files from local HDD to USB disk via command "gcp" I had: - about 50 MB/s in Ubuntu 13.04 (USB disk formatted to EXT4) - now I had about 30 MB/s after new install Ubuntu 13.10 (same USB disk formatted to EXT4)
Before when I had Ubuntu 13.04 on my laptop I had the same USB disk but formatted to NTFS and the same copy was about 30 MB/s. So this is why I decided to format this disk to EXT4 and got about 50 MB/s. But now in new version I have again about 30 MB/s write speed. However this is very speed disk, the disk tool shows write speed about 180 MB/s in Ubuntu 13.04 (with no matter it was NTFS or EXT4) !!! The Kingston DT Ultimate G3 (32GB) is very speed too as You probably know. Don't know what is going on with disks in Ubuntu but it looks very bad... ;( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242085 Title: Low write speed to USB disks - do something!
