The upstream of the transgui currently in Debian and derivatives is this one:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/transgui/
The upstream you are referring to is a fork of this project. I have been in
contact with both upstreams and previously considered changing sources. I my
opinion the project you are referring to should have released under another
name since Mr Sidorov has not abandoned his original project.
Last time I looked at the fork, development seemed to have shifted focus
towards Windows with little or no testing and development being done for
Linux. This may have changed since last time I looked, and I am willing
to reconsider my previous decision to not switch upstreams. The original
project have not seen any action since 2017, and that certainly speaks
in favor of the fork in github. That being said, the original upstream
has always helped me fix bugs as needed in Debian and Ubuntu.
I'd appreciate arguments pro et contra from experienced Ubuntu and/or
Debian developers before making a decission to switch.
