Hi Califa, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately this has not
solved my problem. I tried a reboot after updating GRUB file and
touchpad gone again. This is what the GRUB looks like now:

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden
GRUB_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash hid.debug=1 i2c-hid.debug=1 log_buf_le>
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="i8042.nopnp pci = noaer"

Is this correct?

Using the touchpad is not absolutely essential as I do have a usb mouse,
however, it is not something that I would like to write off as a quirk
and live with it as there are situations where using an external mouse
is awkward, for example sitting on the couch, a busy train, etc.
