Have you tried installing Ubuntu or any other flavor (eg Kubunutu; Lubuntu etc) on another computer with touchpad? I ask you because I have two more computers, an older ASUS model and a XIAOMI Mi NOTEBOOK AIR PRO, and the touchpad works correctly for both of them.
