This decsribes issues in the 2.6.24 kernel.... In short, so many USB devices don't autosuspend properly, that blacklisting them has been pushed to user-mode. By default in the new kernel, autosuspend is disabled for everything but USB hubs. Because they've left autosuspend enabled for USB hubs, and this may still be hitting some of us.
