Well, I have to agree with Elias and NoWhereMan.
USB autosuspend needs to be disabled in Hardy.

Probably best to do it by config in the initrd so that brave users can
modify it without a re-compile.


(I've looked into the git repository for ubuntu.... and if I'm looking at the 
correct stuff, then USB works exactly like a vanilla 2.6.24 kernel.
This means that *if* autosuspend is the problem it *is* a problem with these 
hubs... hence my concusion)

P.S. Before anyone asks.... I am a clueless Ubuntu user *not* an Ubuntu
developer.
