[Impact]
Users of Kubuntu and Ubuntu Studio are getting an error when attempting
to upgrade via GUI upgrade widget with an empty error box.
The issues has been identified as twofold:
* a missing /usr/share/distro-release-notifier/eol.json file, which in
prior versions, was installed properly. This notifies users when the
version goes EOL.
* the removal of the `-m` argument from `do-release-upgrade` which
causes the widget to utterly fail to invoke the upgrade. This argument
was removed during the plucky cycle but the widget still attempts to
call it when clicked.
Unless resolved, users are forced to upgrade via command line, which is
not ideal for those unfamiliar with the command line.
[Test Case]
From a VM of Kubuntu or Ubuntu Studio 25.04:
* User gets notified of an available upgrade.
* User attempts to click on either widget or notification
Expected:
* Notification how long they have until their version loses support.
* `do-release-upgrade` is executed normally when widget or notification is
clicked.
Actual:
* No EOL information is show in notification.
* Click results in an empty error box.
[What could go wrong]
Despite testing on actual metal, there is a possibility that neither the
eol.json gets installed correctly or the code gets patched correctly. It
could also result in utter failure of the widget to even be incorporated
into the Plasma desktop environment. However, under testing, these
issues did not occur.
