As a follow up to my previous comment, I tested booting my Dell XPS 8930 with an Ubuntu 25.10 Live ISO USB.
This worked and interestingly the Live ISO is currently using 6.17.0-5-generic. So definitely looks like a regression between 6.17.0-6-generic and 6.17.0-5-generic. Also, I noticed in the boot log that I got the same error (faux_driver dell-pc: platform_profile probe failed) as before, but this didn't prevent the Live ISO from booting. As Marian stated, this looks like it might not be specifically hardware related. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2129972 Title: Ubuntu 25.10 can't boot with 6.17.0-6-generic kernel on encrypted fs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2129972/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
