Your kernel was updated recently too, and the Nouveau driver is half in
the kernel and half in Mesa. Nouveau is frequently buggy and it seems
unlikely that's going to improve for older GPU models like the GT 220.

For the best support of a GT 220 you will need the Nvidia 340 driver.
But the Nvidia 340 driver was only available in Ubuntu versions up to
Ubuntu 22.04. On top of that, kernel updates in 22.04.x releases likely
implicitly dropped support for Nvidia-340 over time.

So to have a fully supported system with an official Nvidia driver, I
recommend you use Ubuntu 22.04 - the original release and not any later
point release. That should keep the kernel at a level where the
Nvidia-340 driver keeps working indefinitely.
