Thanks. I was eventually able to reproduce the issue by enabling "Auto-
hide the Dock". But I can see the problem will also be more significant
with more square screen resolutions, and less likely with wider
resolutions.

The bug does not occur if you disable the Ubuntu Dock extension
completely, I think because the appearance of the dash at the bottom
makes the available space wider and less tall.

It feels like this is going to need fixing in Ubuntu Dock somehow.
