> Simon, I opened a few bugs to get GNU updated too: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1138992 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1148239
Awesome, thanks Sylvestre. I think an important point to consider here is that these bugs were submitted months ago, and that showing interest on Debian's side to package these later versions are the best way of also getting them into Ubuntu. Serious attempts to get the GNU coreutils updated upstream *have* been made. I want to highlight and reiterate that even if GNU coreutils were still the default on Ubuntu, version 9.10 is what would have been provided on 26.10 as that is what is distributed by Debian. If any critical fixes need backporting, please let us know and we will consider them on a case-by-case basis.
