Hello Chris<<> You might be able to clear up the issue by removing
~/.openoffice.org2> directory. Compiz is the visual effects program in
Ubuntu, sometimes> setting visual effects to none corrects

I don't recall anything by that name, but I DO recall a 'visual effects'
tab in preference for setting up the desktop.  I did set that to 'none'
when I had other problems.  But I made that adjustment AFTER the problem
happened with Open Office Writer.<< OpenOffice.org is> known to have
several problems when visual effects is turned on. The> part you think
is evolution is probably the package > openoffice.org-> evolution, that
package can be safely removed if you want without> removing evolution it
just provides a way from openoffice.org to get> address book data from
evolution.>>Ok, if everything in Evolution will be saved, then let me
know what to do to properly uninstall Open Office and put it back on my
system.I am going to assume that with the visual effects turned off that
this problem will not happen again?  Because I am lucky it happened now
JUST as I started to use Open Office.  But later on down the road I
could have important documents and settings made.  So we are lucking out
that this happened now and not later.Still I think perhaps talking to
the Ubuntu devs about this situation should be made a priority, since
many people are on Ubuntu and are probably going to use Open Office as a
replacement for MS Office under Windows.  Thank You,Geo> > Chris> > -- >
