Hi Ali
"I'm an old school guy and prefer to manually backup my files - copy and
paste :)"
That's what i also like to do. doesn't Ubuntu one provide you with a
folder that sinks into their cloud?
I'd use flash drives, but i have no idea what i will have to back up in
a Linux OS, beside media files (music and text documents) :D

Hi!
Hi,
The installation wiki is very comprehensive. thanks for that.
Glad it helps :)
It is with the great efforts by Ubuntu GNOME Wiki and Docs Team [1]
and we're glad that we managed to finish that in a short time.
I think I'm going to use Ubuntu one for backing up. it sounds
like drop box, except more compatible with Ubuntu itself.
I'm an old school guy and prefer to manually backup my files - copy
and paste :)
But that's me!
Thanks man. get some rest, i hope the pain goes away soon. it
sucks specially if when theres lots of typin to do.
Indeed. It is the typing and it seems I need to get rid of my current
chair and find a better one.
Thank you, appreciate that.
If you have any question, don't hesitate to ask :)
Enjoy Ubuntu GNOME!

Hi Ali
Hi Hadi,
Thanks for your mail!
Anytime :)
So I'll just install Ubuntu gnome with grub without worrying
about the boot loader.
Yes. Whenever you install Ubuntu or any of its official variants,
just make sure to install GRUB into the MBR of your HDD. This is
the best way ever. I have done 1000s of installations in 4 years
and I always do that and always choose 'Something Else' to take
more control over the installation process ;)
As long as you have backed up your important files, worry not :)
I have sent you two good links, have a look and bookmark these
for future reference.
i don't think I'm going to uninstall it soon, but i will
probably reinstall it for the 14.4 update when it comes out.
Re-installing Linux doesn't need anything else except formatting
the root partition and if my memory still remember correctly, it
is also safe to keep /home without formatting but I have seen
some people reporting some kind of settings problems but that was
long ago. To play it safe make sure to backup. Did I mention to
backup? :P
P.S, sorry for not being able to quote as you do in mails, i
have no idea how to do it with my Screen-Reader. could be a
drag and drop operation maybe.
I will teach you that later. I am writing this with a strong pain
in neck and shoulder. Don't worry about that now :)
If you have any other Q, let us know :)

Hello
Hi,
I'm running Ubuntu gnome on vmware currently, but i
decided to duel boot it on my laptop which is running
windows 7.
I have duel booted Linux and windows before, but last
time that i did it, i couldn't bring back window's boot
back, and grub keep coming up even after i have removed
my Linux installation.
Is it possible to not install grub and use window's
booter to boot into windows and linux?
It is very easy to restore the MBR and enable Windows Boot
Loader to take control.
I have made a Dual-Booting guide which is 3-4 years old now
(Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows XP) and I have discussed all these
possibilities but I will not confuse you and post it here :)
Just install GRUB to the MBR of your HDD and if you ever
decided to remove Linux, we can help you with restoring your
MBR ;)
