For the record, as far as intltool is concerned, the comment symbol is '#'. This appears to be completely undocumented; I found this out by reading the source. (See http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~intltool/intltool/trunk/view/head:/intltool-extract.in#L279) I've added a comment and uploaded a new POT file to Launchpad. (Launchpad seems particularly befuddled tonight; I hope the comment shows up soon.)
I'm planning on making a 1.0 release on Wednesday, so any translations that get in by Wednesday morning, US east coast time, will get included in the release.
