Well, 11 worked "sort of" worked. The screen would really get trashed when scrolling a Web page. The "one click" install for ATI drivers installed the drivers, but didn't update xorg.conf. Had to manually update that. It DID find my wireless in this Toshiba A215-55848 notebook. I have a standing order with on-disk to send a DVD with all of the 8.10 64-bit stuff on it. Hopefully that DVD will allow me to install BOTH Gnome and KDE at the same time without having to download 300+MEG over my satellite link. I'm glad I installed SuSE 11 on the notebook. It reminded me why I quit using SuSE. First, they don't have the t1-cyrrillic package with freetimes and the other fonts I use for my books. Second, and the most important reason I don't like SuSE is Yast. It is my hope that the new rev of Ubuntu will not only make the wireless work, it will support the ATI Radeon X1200 video card AND be able to find the modem. Toshiba uses some incredibly odd and cheap components when they build a notebook. I should have known better than buy one after my experiences with a WinBook (private label Toshiba). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ubuntu Linux" group.
