Thank you NumPy, I owe you folks! I used to use Quanta (I always had Red Hat and Fedora all those recent years), but now with my new Ubuntu came Bluefish and that looks attractive as well. But, as I just answered to Matthew, miracuously it does work again now in both browsers and I appreciate, but don't understand it. Maybe it just needed some time (I left the machine for a while between failure and success.) to adjust?
Anyway, I hope that I can work with it now. .... However, now I realize a new problem: where is the cgi-bin directory in this apache2- ubuntu version. I used to have the Xampp package from apachefriends.org. And that one had the standard cgi-bin next to the htdocs directory. I studied Perl over the last weeks in order to manage CGI stuff. But where do my scripts have to go now?
