Assalm alaykom,
Thank you all my brothers for your comments and I need to take an
action regarding to the poll:
1. The first top 5 options in the current one will be moved to the
new one.
2. only registered people can vote (we will check on the user name)
either people care enough to vote or not!
3. only one option can be selected(I have chosen more than one of
the top five but I have a favorite).
4. Please brother Mehdi advise me on the time that will close the
poll(to have enough time to make the changes before the next
release 9.04).
Am waiting response on point 4 from Mehdi, and as always all
suggestions are welcomed :)
wassalam alaykom.

In my view, relevance of the name would be important in Arabic.
Only! In other languages it should merely be easy to pronounce,
but it need not have meaning. Therefore, sounds like 'kha' (خ)
'qaf' (ق), "zza" (ظ), "ghain" (غ), etc, should be avoided.
If any of the names on the list have a negative connotation in any
of the languages of the people in the group, let them speak out
now, please.
Most people, who are interested in Linux, know, or at least
quickly know about Debian, Fedora, Mandriva, openSUSE, Xandros,
Knoppix and, indeed, Ubuntu. None of them have "Linux"in the name.
Anyone considering installing Linux is at least slightly
computer-literate and will do some research in advance, so as not
to break their existing (Windows) installation.
For marketing purposes the word "Linux" could be added as a label
or (meta)tag. What I mean is, the name could be just <UbuntuME> (I
use this as an example, so as not to influence the voting.) But on
distribution sites, in brochures and other marketing materials it
could be presented as <UbuntuME>, Linux for Muslims, or better
still <UbuntuME>, *The* Linux for Muslims. That should also take
care of Google and other spiders.
And actually the abbreviation "ME" should be avoided, because many
people take it as standing for "Middle East" instead of "Muslim
Edition".
With regard to the poll, I believe there should be date set in
advance for the poll to close and a definitive period for the
run-off vote. It's February, so the majority of people are not on
holiday, etc. Thus, the voting period need not be very long. It is
best to get a firm decision quickly and then close the subject.
This is just my opinion, but I am always ready to accept other
opinions.
Salam

I agree, we could for example take the 5 first names and do a second
vote with only one option.
But we should also carefully think about the relevance of the name, its
results on google, the domain name, the "communication" relevance etc.
On a French Muslim forum they don't like Arabic names because they are
not relevant, they prefer "linux muslim edition", they think, for
example, that Fajr is meaningless for end-users.
