Yes, I kept waiting for myself to show up but I never did. As Murphy's Law would have it, about 5:30 p.m. at work on Friday a crisis occurred which required me to stay late. I was optimistic I could still make it to game night but as you astutely noted, that didn't happen.
Sounds like good times were had though. To scratch that unfulfilled gaming itch, I started a four player game of Le Havre with my family last night and we are finding it to be a very long game as well. We had to postpone the completion of our game until later today. The turns seem to go quickly but there are just tons and tons of turns in the full game. But no complaints so far.
