Actually Benjamin - you are in new territory (i.e. locationtech.org and not eclipse.org). The proposal gets placed on locationtech.org - and has been submitted almost a month ago: - http://locationtech.org/proposals/user-friendly-desktop-internet-gis-udig
(This page shows 10/12/2012 so it has been up for a number of weeks already). The hard part is that I am not quite sure which group gets to do the review? While I had initially raised a ticket with the eclipse management organisation, it was punted over to LocationTech. This may mean we get to wait while the LocationTech architecture committee gets its head on straight - perhaps you can provide clarification on this one. In the mean time I can provide some background on the relicense question: 1) The uDig project could not be submitted to LocationTech under an LGPL license. We went through our normal change request procedure to select a new license - resulting in a dual EPL + EDL license. (EDL is exactly the BSD license with "eclipse" as the organisation). 2) The thing is we want to release our software *now* - so we need to release it as EPL + BSD. So the question is how can we balance this work, do we have to run through and update the headers twice? Currently the answer appears to be yes, as we are in limbo waiting approval to join LocationTech before we can use the EDL license and distribute code as part of the Eclipse Foundation. The tasks being followed are here: - License Change (http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/License+Change) <-- notice we are near the end of the tasks starting in on the search and replace header steps Since you last looked at it I have broken out two sub pages: - License Change Examples (http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/License+Change+Examples) <-- check this page for the net.refractions.udig.libs example which includes a better dependency list - License Change Notes (http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/UDIG/License+Change+Notes) <-- this is where I am marking any glitches as we review licenses When we are done here the various about.html files will form the definitive representation of dependencies and license review, and the Dependencies (http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/ADMIN/Dependencies) wiki page you found can be reduced to links.
