enabling the web server to be IPV6 is probably trivial but it would be less 
than ideal if the network that connects it was not yet ready to deliver IPV6. 

BT's IPv6 roll out programme is documented on her website. 

I am not part of London2012 but I would imagine that in such a large logistical 
project, with significant media attention, like this, many details and systems 
are tested and locked down into  production well in advance of the date of the 
event.
