I've confirmed you can in software on an X release for MX5-80:

Whether you want to do this all in one box saving power in an X release vs a 
separate Cisco/other box to keep the LNS/L2TP functionality out of the core 
router/s and having another hop is your design choice. 

I'd rather save power and get two in different sites, but then you don't have 
two vendors to threaten one against the other if/when issues ;)
