I complained to Apple about the replacement time, for something they got wrong 
in the first place. Told them I would invoice them for every day that laptop 
sits on their shelf if the keyboard is not replaced within one working day. 
Made a bit of a fuss when the shop was completely full, and they agreed quickly 
to stop losing customers 😊.

They obliged, and hey presto replacement sorted in 9 hours.

Same deal for the logic board and fingerprint sensor too 😊. Both at their 
expense.

I think you’ll need to ask at the same time for that, but the keyboard swap I 
recall took just 2 or 3 days, though they did say it might take a week.

So my issue with that route was that they have to replace the entire base 
chassis, as the keyboard is part of the unibody enclosure. This means booking 
it into the service centre, for about 3 days to assess, and a week to repair 
(in South Africa, at least).

I couldn't be asked :-)... but certainly an option for those who don't mind.
