I suspect you meant "14e4" (Broadcom) instead of "1434" (unknown)?

This could be explained by not having a DHCP server (or a cable) on
the device Linux calls "eth0".  The 0.1 release might help.

Only one is listed even when it is in the docking station?  Hm.

Also, are you sure about 16a6 (again assuming you meant 14e4:...)?
That would imply that your laptop has a gigabit ethernet card.  Cool.

Please let me know if 0.1 fixes either or both of these machines.
