aha, scsi system.

If you look at the screen when booting unattended it will say what
it get from 'legacy' bios.
I suspect it reports the CD-drive..

I have a spare 1850 to test on but very little time to do it..

For now you must do that to get it working.

What does nt5x-install say about:
"* We have fix_disk_geo_heads (xx), writing into /dev/dsk1"
"* We have fix_disk_geo_sectors (xx), writing into /dev/dsk1"

the interesting part is the values for xx

I believe all nt5x windowses uses the same installation so they all will give 
the same errors.
