It seems that I'm having the same issue as many others on the mailing-list.
Upon the first reboot after the Unattended / Windows installation copies the
installation files over from the Unattended server, I'm left with nothing
but a discouraging blinking cursor. I'm attempting an install of Windows
2000 Server (vanilla) using Unattended (4.6 or 4.7). The entire Unattended
process works fine up until that point.
The system will boot from the Linux boot disk, I fly through the
configuration prompts and then it will send me to a blue colored Windows
installer screen that copies all installation files over. As soon as the
file copy is complete and the system reboots for the first time in
preparation for the rest of the installation however, I get nothing but a
blinking white cursor (upper left hand corner) on a black background.
I've dug through the Unattended mailing-list archives and tried a few
solutions that have seemed to help others, although I wasn't as lucky.
1. partition/format manually, then proceed with Unattended
2. use version 4.7 rather than 4.6 (yields same results)
3. include RAID, SCSI drivers in $oem$ folder and corresponding
configuration in unattended.txt
4. update RAID, SCSI controller firmware
5. update BIOS
6. use version 4.8 RC4 (garbage; won't mount ntinstall share and spits
unrecognized command nonsense)
7. use FAT32 C: partition <=4GB
I'm stumped and would appreciate any suggestions to get things rolling
again! =)
Cheers,
-Eric
