And all in the name of "efficiency." I think we're about to get hit in
mathematics in the same way we have been in reading; we'll hear a lot about
"direct instruction" (read passive lecture) in math then. Especially if there
is no change after the national election. Maybe Lesson Study has been slow to
grow here because instructional decision-making has been so diminished in
language arts that our teachers have stopped "reaching" for improved practice.
