it seems important enough to document these "stories" of the characters where there is 
one:
- source was...
- included because of encoding in source...
- duplicate because of oversight; source was...
- duplicate for compatibility to source...
- has these properties/is deprecated because...
etc.

it also seems that a small group of people remember these "stories" and would need to 
be the ones collecting them :-}

this would be a great service!
