Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I thought that
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icon_language did a good job of
presenting the /core? of Icon/Unicon in simple, clear terms. Fleshing
that out with more non-mathematical examples, would make a good start
to a swell tutorial.

Barry:

Although parsers do not fall into /my/ problem domain (at the moment),
I can see how writing one could give Icon/Unicon vigorous exercise ;)

Maybe one of these days, I will be motivated to write one.

Steve:

'The Icon Programming Language', is of course /the/ Icon/Unicon bible
- it's a manual, thorough and comprehensive, but /not/ a tutorial.

There is no doubt about it! The folks on this ML, have been extra
helpful. I'm hanging in with the language because of their generous input.

Clint:

I will look for your suggested "Graphics Programming in Icon". BTW,
you could do worse than to write a "Unicon for total newbies book". If
you don't, than /if/ I continue with Icon/Unicon, I surely will. More
like a Web-based tutorial though.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and encouragement.
