I'm advised the volume of water going through the exhaust pipe needs to have a
regulator, i.e. the gate valve, because if there is too much in the exhaust
pipe it may increase the exhaust back pressure thus affecting engine
performance...my 10cents worth... In reality without a pressure gauge on the
system ( riser?) the setting of the volume of water escaping via the gate valve
is arbitrary. The guy who works on my 6-71s checks to see there is water
flowing/blowing out of the exhausts, then checks port and starboard to see
there is some flow via the gate valves, and that's it. Cheers, Ross.> To:
