My Onan is diesel , so I have no specific experience with the unit involved, but the first thing I usually hear is: Did you check the fuel filter? If you think it is running rich, do you see a lot of dark smoke from the exhaust? That could confirm a rich condititon. DavidO

Yesterday fired up the genny to let it run w/load and no probs. Today, I fired it up and first put a light load on it. Then I put the water heater on and genny RPMs dipped way down and wanted to die (first time it has done this). RPMs never recovered after this, even with no load. I think I can smell some fuel. Is it possible the carb float stuck and it's running way too rich? The genny has never been a problem. Are there any tricks to check before addressing the carb?
